The Challenge

Glacier County Roads Department is responsible for local road maintenance and other work but also provide aggregates to local customers. They were looking for a system which would allow them to monitor and streamline their own business, while also letting them supply customers with information on the product and exact weights. Along with this, they are also audited yearly and needed to be able to show auditors exactly which products were on site. 

The Solution

Glacier County Roads Department got in touch with their local Loadrite distributor, Jeff Lovell from Desert Basin Companies. Jeff recommended they install the L2180, the latest in loader scale technology. The product would allow them to track detailed information about each load to within 1% accuracy. Along with this they installed the LP950 printer which allowed them to supply customers with a hard copy receipt showing the product supplied.

On top of this was the Loadrite Material Management System (MMS) which lets them track stock movement within the site and for individual jobs. The MMS software also meant they were able to know exact levels of all the stocks at any one time. Jeff from Desert Basin Companies was able to install the product on site and give extensive hands on training with each loader operator.

The Results

Glacier County Roads Department are very pleased with the newly installed system. Customers are supplied a printout showing the supplied product and weights they are billed for. Each job is monitored to ensure that they are running at peak efficiency. When audited they are able to supply the auditors with a printout showing every product and exact weights across the whole site. As a result of the more accurate loads on trucks they are experiencing less wear on both suspension and tires. All of these benefits add up to a more efficient and productive site. Director of public works, Bill Bandel commented that "as well as the increase in loading efficiency as a result of the system being installed, audits are now trouble free due to the visibility of all products."
